HLP is committed to advancing literacy for all students, whether in the general education classroom, special education, or through one-on-one tutoring. Our personal journeys have fueled a passion for insisting that children be taught to read based on the current consensus of educational research. Regardless of where you or your staff are on your structured literacy journey, we are here to help. We realize that students need to be explicitly taught how to read and teachers need to be explicitly taught how to teach it; they shouldn't be left to navigate alone through mountains of sometimes complicated research. When it comes to professional development we often hear that it's just more tools in the teacher's toolbox. Much like you wouldn't give a surgeon a wrench we are here to make sure teachers have the right tools and the training to use those tools effectively.
